Overview

Lineage
The Laval catchment (0.86 km2) was equipped in 1983 for measuring water and sediment fluxes (both fine suspended sediment and coarse bedload material). Intense erosion is observed with suspended sediment concentration as high as 800g/L and annual sediment export of 15000 t/km2. The instrumental setup includes ultrasonic and nilometer sensors for water stage, a gauging Parshall flume, turbidimeter and water sampler for SS concentration, and a deposit trap to store and measure bedload.
